Taichung's parks are good for an easy walk between sights. The Calligraphy Greenway links two museums; Wenxin Forest Park and Fengle Sculpture Park have their own MRT stations; and Central Park, on the old Shuinan airfield, is huge.
Calligraphy Greenway
The Calligraphy Greenway (草悟道) is a 3.6 km strip of park through the West District, named for the free, flowing strokes of cursive calligraphy. It runs from the National Museum of Natural Science in the north to the National Taiwan Museum of Fine Arts in the south, past Civic Square and the shops of Park Lane by CMP, and it is open all day. Walk it end to end between the two museums, or in pieces.
Getting there: Bus 159 from HSR Taichung Station stops at both ends (土庫停車場(國美館) and 植物園(西屯路)); Taiwan Boulevard buses 300 to 310 stop at the museum end (科博館(專用道)). → West Taichung
Wenxin Forest Park
Wenxin Forest Park (文心森林公園) is about 8.9 hectares of trees and lawns in Nantun, right beside its own MRT station. Its big outdoor stage, the Fulfillment Amphitheater (圓滿戶外劇場), opened in 2006 and hosts free concerts and festivals. → Shows and concerts

Taichung Central Park
Taichung Central Park (中央公園) opened on 6 December 2020 on land of the former Shuinan Airport in Xitun. It covers 67 hectares, about two and a half times Taipei's Da'an Park, with about 10,000 newly planted native trees, ponds, 2.5 km of trails and a visitor center. It is open 24 hours. In February and March 2026 it hosted the city's Central Taiwan Lantern Festival.
Getting there: taxi from Taichung City Hall Station (Green Line, 110).
Fengle Sculpture Park
Fengle Sculpture Park (豐樂雕塑公園), in Nantun, is a park with outdoor sculptures among the lawns and paths, open 24 hours. The MRT station Feng-le Park is named after it.

Good to know: Taichung summers are hot. Walk the Calligraphy Greenway or Central Park early in the morning or toward sunset, and keep the midday hours for a museum.
